And the monster roared! Then they calmed down the monster by singing a song. "Twinkle twinkle little bear How we wonder where thought to be this night Twinkle twinkle little bear." The house was called the Flower Family House. The house had a bed a table and three chairs. It was great. It was very big and made out of brick so no mold could get in. They moved in and lived happily for a while. Then, they had another baby called Rose. She was five years younger than Flowerlily, seven years younger than Tilly, and ten years younger than Tinkerbell. They all grew up and Rose was still in school. Honeydew Daisy was sitting in her backyard playing with her china dolls when her friend Rosy walked by. She came up to Daisy. "Hi. Did you see the movie yesterday on TV?" she asked. "No," said Daisy, "I don't watch much TV." "Whatever," said Rosy, "Well I'd better get going." "But what was the TV show about?" said Daisy with an excited look on her face. "OH, just a show on fairies," said Rosy. "Fairies," said Daisy, "What is a fairy?" "Well," explained Rosy with a smart look on her face, "they're tiny people with wings that take care of nature." "Oh," said Daisy, "kinda like Pegasis!" "Yea," said Rosy, "but they are people." "They are very pretty and; their skin is "baby bottom" soft. Their clothes are woven from caterpillar cocoons and spider webs. They have long silky hair and; their eyes sparkle and shine like the sun on a hot summer's day." "That is why I dropped by. I'm building a fairy house, and I wanted to know if you wanted to help me." "Well," said Daisy, "OK." So, she went over to Rosy's house but, when she got there she was very surprised. Rosie's fairy house had moss and flowers torn out of the ground. She had hurt nature! It also had plastic stuff like her necklace, and her dollhouse couches and TV. Daisy said politely, "I don't think any fairy will want to live in you house." But, Rosy was too stubborn. Daisy said," Do dragon flies sit on plastic couches and watch TV?" "No," said Rosy, "but they'll visit my house and; if you keep on saying things like that; I'll kick you out of my yard!" Daisy was already pulling all of the plastic out of the house. Rosy started yelling so; Daisy ran home. She started making her own fairy house. She took some raffia and collected sticks, acorn tops, milkweed pods, stones, berries, dried flowers and shells, plus garlic flowers for decoration. After that she tied sticks together with raffia. Next she dug a circular hole and stuck the sticks knotted together around it. She put a pumpkin leaf on the top of it for a roof. Then, she pulled the seeds out of the milkweed pod and put acorn tops in it with water for a sink , a milkweed pod with seeds for a bed, bark laid together for a hardwood floor, and; took a stone for a table. She piled shells for steps and one flat rock with little rocks around it for a pool. She tied dried flowers, she had cut carefully to the entrance to get the fairies attention. She added a piece of garlic and berries for food. That night she saw sparkles flying around her fairy house. In the morning she rushed out of the door and looked in her house. A tiny fairy was frying garlic and berries on a stone above a fire. Daisy slowly and carefully tried to touch her but; the fairy saw her and turned into a slug! Daisy was scared. She ran inside. That afternoon she looked into the house. The slug was gone, but a stone lay on the ground with berry juice writing on it. It said... Daisy, My name is Honeydew, your fairy. I love this house! I will live in it forever. Thank you, Honeydew P.S. I took a cool dip in the pool last night. It was very refreshing! Daisy was so happy that night. When she was falling asleep she heard a little voice singing... Daisy, Daisy, Honeydew, Cherry blossom painted new, I paint the flowers one by one, Singing happily until the day is done. Daisy fell asleep happy and satisfied in having her very own fairy. Written by: Cherish H, age 11 |
