Faery Wings

you will need:

  • large sheet of paper *18"x24"
  • a sharpie (permanent marker)
  • watercolor paints
  • glitter glue
  • ribbon
  • scissors

First fold the paper in half. As big as you can, draw the outline of one wing with the sharpie. Turn the paper over and trace the wing on the other side. You can also trace the inside (back) of the wings if you like. Be sure you include some circles, ovals, tear drop shapes which will be fun to paint. Next open up the wings and paint with watercolors. Outline with glitter glue and let dry. Cut around your wings and cut two little holes for the ribbon. String with ribbon and wear!

Magic Wands

you will need:

  • a wooden dowel, about 20"
  • cardboard
  • glitter glue and paint
  • ribbon, and/or tulle
  • scissors
  • masking tape

Cut a star or heart shape out of the cardboard. Attach to the dowel with the masking tape. Paint and decorate with glitter. Add ribbon and a tulle bow to the dowel. Voila! A magic faery wand.

Faery Huts

Find or buy a little bird house. Convert it into a faeey house with a little imagination. Add bits of cloth and glue in some curtains. Place a miniature basket or acorn cap close by to faill with faery bait (barley, cake sprinkles, or glitter). Add some bells by the door so you will know when they have occupied their new house. Put a sign on the faery hut that says "no birds! faeries only!" Put the hut in a special place, like in the garden or next to the fireplace, and wait for faeries. keep the cat away (they are jealous of faeries)!

A Faery Bed

Any little thing can be easily turned into a comfortable bed for a faery. Try using any of the following: a small jewelry box, a wooden matchbox, a walnut shell, a dried orange shell rind, a large leaf curved just right. Add a cotton ball for a fluffy pillow, and a piece of soft cloth or even a large rose petal as a blanket. Place the bed next to yours and sleep with the faeries!

Elfin Bow and Arrows

It has been said that elfin folk have magical bows and arrows that can make humans sick, fall in love, or act a little ditzsy! To make an elf bow for yourself find a bendable twig, about the length of your arm. Tie a string tightly at both ends. Make a bunch of arrows with smaller, very straight twigs. Wrap some feathers to one end with string. You can have a grown-up help you sharpen the other end but please be careful. Rule number on:, DON'T ever shoot your bow and arrow at any living thing. Try setting up some cans for target practice.

Flower Faery Wreaths

It has been said that a wreath of flowers protects you from bad faery magic. Aside from that, they make you feel pretty. The easiest way to make a flower wreath without any materials needed, is to make it"daisy chain" style. Take a flower with a soft stem (like a daisy or dandelion) and split the stem with your fingers to make a small slit...not all the way down to the bottom of the stem. Put another flower through the slit and the make a split in THAT stem. Put another flower in that slit...and on and on till it's big enough for your head. Be sure the slits are small, otherwise the flowers will just fall through the slits and you will be FLUSTERATED!!!
